Several office spaces and parking lots at the corner of 50th Street and Underwood Avenue will go on the auction block on Oct. 12.

This is the first time in decades that the property will transfer titles, said attorney Richard Secor.

The Ruge family has owned the property in Dundee since the early 1930s. But, disagreements in how to manage the property caused a rift and led to a lawsuit last fall.

With no settlement among family members in sight, a district judge appointed Secor to auction the property.

Hazel Ruge, a central figure in the lawsuit, died at 98 in July.

Auctioneer Steve Anderson said the auction will be in the old Talent Tree retail shop.

The property has been split temporarily into two different groups. One includes Dundee Hardware and its eastern and northern adjoining parking lots. The other group includes the KFAB ratio station building, two office spaces just east of it and parking lots west and north of the building.

In sum, eight lots assessed at $1.2 million will be sold. Secor said both sides of the family dispute plan to make bids.
