Dundee Day has come and gone. A great big thank you to everyone who helped plan, execute, and clean up. My family & I had a good time in the morning: breakfast at the Pancake Man, tour & coloring at the Architecture Office, visiting the booths, the parade, and face painting in front of the aVENue gallery. I was please to finally see the inside of the Architecture Office. The firm Savage Pilandri has doen a wonderful job restoring the facade and updating the interior. Randy Pilandri said a small-town Western Nebraska bank will occupy half the building by year end.
I love to see kids, Boy Scouts, Brownies, and neighborhood spirit in the parade. The best parts of the parade were the synchronized lawn chair team and the Chicago Street Cubs. Photos of the parade can be seen here.
We had a wedding in the afternoon, so we missed the live music & afternoon events. I would have liked to take the trollie tour. (If you have photos from Dundee Day, email me at HistoricDundeeATgmail.com. I can link to your photo gallery or post them on Flickr.)
I have a couple of complaints. The posters mistakenly said the parade was to go “from Brownell Talbot to 51st & Underwood.” The parade, as it always does, went to 50th & Underwood. Also, we found out afterward that there were carnival rides at Dundee Elementary, which was not publicized at all.
What is your favorite part of Dundee Day? What would you like to see added?
