Backyard: There’s much to do this weekend at Dundee Day

Dundee is rolling out the red carpet for neighbors and visitors this weekend.

The annual Dundee Day will have a variety of activities for all ages from 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday.

The Dundee-Memorial Park Association and the Dundee Merchants Association are sponsoring activities in the business district around 50th Street and Underwood Avenue.

The celebration will begin with breakfast featuring the Pancake Man from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Trovato’s Italian Restaurant, 5013 Underwood Ave.

At 10:30 a.m., the Dundee Day parade will begin at Brownell-Talbot School, 400 N. Happy Hollow Blvd., and move east to 51st Street and Underwood Avenue.

A showcase of artists and face-painting will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the Avenue Gallery, 4916 Underwood Ave. Craft vendor sales and information and entertainment booths will be set up in the business district throughout the day.

A farmer’s market and flower sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Dundee Florist, 675 N. 50th St.

A silent auction will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at the former Dundee Dinner Theater, 51st Street and Underwood Avenue.

Live music will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Blue Line Stage in the parking lot west of Blue Line Coffee, 4924 Underwood Ave.

More live music will be available from 2 p.m. to midnight on the main stage on the south side of Dundee Hardware Plus, 5002 Underwood Ave.
